Tonight, Vivo will host a launch event in China. The company may announce the Vivo X Fold2, Vivo X Flip, and Vivo Pad2 tablet at 7pm (local time). It is possible that the company will also unveil the Vivo Y78+ midrange smartphone at the same event. It is rumored to be the first Y-series phone to incorporate a curved display.

Recently, the model number V2271A for the Vivo Y78 Plus was discovered on the 3C certification website. The phone reportedly has a large 5,000mAh battery that supports 44W quick charging, which is an enhancement over the previous Vivo Y77 model, which featured a 4500mAh battery and 80W dual-core flash charging. While the battery life has been increased, some users may favor a faster charging rate.

The device’s Geekbench listing disclosed that it is powered by a Snapdragon 695 processor. However, rumors imply that it may contain a MediaTek Dimensity processor. The Geekbench also disclosed that the upcoming smartphone could feature up to 12 GB of RAM and Android 13 operating system. It achieved a multi-core running score of 1976 points and a single-core running score of 670 points on Geekbench 6.

Earlier this month, a smuggled image of the Vivo Y78+ revealed that it will be the first smartphone in the Y series to feature a curved display. It is rumored that the front of the phone will have a single opening in the center of the curved screen, while the back of the device will feature a rectangular rear camera module with dual camera lenses in the shape of a double ring. The expected color options for the phone are black, light blue, and light yellow. It could cost approximately 1,000 yuan ($145).
